Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church encourages partitioners to come to church, and seek out the holy each year during this sacred time in Christianity. Each year, the invitation is the same, but the theme changes based on the Senior Pastor’s sermon series.
In a unique twist this theme lent itself to the creation of an exhibit focused on that vocabulary and the works of Frederick Buechner, who passed the previous summer. I created a series of temporary tattoos, applied them to clergy and staff, photographed them, and added a quote from Frederick Buechner on the subject. The results were an interactive and intimate portrait of faith.
